Family Camp

Building Strength in Community

photo-gallery-7.jpg

Family Camp was originally founded in response to a need for practical venues where foster/resource parents could obtain the continuing education credits necessary to maintain their home’s certification. That commitment to learning and skill-building remains an important part of the program today.

Over time, Family Camp has also grown into something more — a space intentionally designed for Families of Connection (foster/resource, adoptive, kinship, guardianship, permanency, and beyond) to gather, share life’s ups and downs, and build community together.

Families attend for a long weekend that blends workshops with shared camp experiences, family fun, and meaningful connection. Kindred Matters volunteers provide supervision and youth programming while caregivers participate in workshops led by experienced facilitators. Outside of workshops, families engage in camp activities together, step away from the demands of everyday life, and spend intentional time with one another.

Our hope is that Family Camp is as safe and welcoming a space as possible for young people and adults with shared lived experiences to connect, learn, and find joy — a place where meals are prepared, laundry can wait, and families can simply be together in a supportive camp environment.

Let’s grow our community!

We would love to encourage you to share our Family Camp with other families in your community that may be interested in attending. If you have a young person who has a sibling living in a separate home, we would also love to encourage you to invite them to attend. Family Camp is also a great space for sibling connection if our Sibling Camp is not the right fit.
