Sibling Camp

Uniting Separated Siblings

2026 Camp Dates and Locations

Our Sibling Camp programs are specifically designed for siblings who live apart from at least one sibling and want to attend camp together.

Session 1: June 26-28, 2026 Suttle Lake Camp, Sisters, Oregon

***Please note that this overnight camp will be two nights. Campers will stay overnight in cabins with their siblings and experienced Sibling Camp volunteers, and they will move through the day activities with their sibling group. This session has increased staff-to-camper ratios to provide more supervision and support. This camp session is an excellent fit for campers who may struggle with distractions from larger groups or require extra encouragement to stay engaged with their siblings. It is also a great camp for younger campers or campers who have not been to an overnight camp program before or young people who need more individualized support (behavior, emotional, physical, medical, etc.). If you have campers between the ages 6 or 7 who you feel would be successful and enjoy this session please reach out to our team as we may be able to accommodate them at this session. This session will be a self-transport event.

Session 2: August 11-15, 2025 Camp Magruder, Rockaway Beach, Oregon

***This is a four-night overnight camp session. It is anticipated to be our larger Sibling Camp session. Campers will move through their day at camp in “Family Groups,” which are made up of their sibling group as well as 2-3 other sibling groups and our amazing volunteer counselors. Overnight, they will stay in “Cabin Groups”. We have three cabin options for this session. Campers can request to stay in a cabin with folks who identify as the same gender they do, an all-gender cabin, or a cabin with their sibling group, and our team will do our best to accommodate requests in alliance with our staffing ratios. This session will have bus transportation from Salem and Hillsboro. At the start of this session campers must be between the ages of 8-18. If you have a sibling who is between the ages of 19 and 26 who is interested in attending alongside their siblings, please reach out to our team.

Refferal/Application Requirements

To attend camp, each camper must have an application submitted on their behalf by a provider, caseworker, casa, etc.. In addition, each sibling who would also be attending would need an application submitted on their behalf as well. Our selection committee will review all applications to ensure our team can safely and successfully serve the sibling group. Once accepted, further registration information will be submitted prior to the sibling group attending camp. If you have any questions about this process, please reach out to siblingcamp@kindredmatters.org.

Referrals for the 2026 Kindred Matters Sibling Camp will open shortly. If you have any questions or are unsure which session may best suit a sibling group, please contact our Sibling Camp Registration Coordinator Stacey Nash at siblingcamp@kindredmatters.org or our Executive Director, Tia, at tia@kindredmatters.org.

Kindred Matters has served more than 3,000 young people since Sibling Camp was introduced to the PNW in 2006. Sibling Camp programs are designed to bring together siblings who live separately due to circumstances out of their control (foster care, adoption, family separation, etc.). Recent research has shown that Sibling Camp is a powerful intervention for siblings living separately. In 2017, 97% of campers reported making positive memories with their siblings at camp, and 85% reported that attending camp strengthened their sibling relationship. Beyond that, 92% reported that their time at camp made them more hopeful about their futures.

Now serving primarily Oregon youth, Kindred Matters hosts two sessions of Sibling Camp each summer. Sibling Camp programs are overnight camp experiences designed specifically to provide siblings with opportunities to make positive childhood memories together despite living separately. Activities at camp include an all-camp birthday party, campfires, arts and crafts, swimming, boating, archery, and so much more.
